  Modifying Uno's

The following section shows what you can do to an Uno. Ive decided to do this section so that other Uno drivers can see what parts are available and which parts I recommend.

Wheels and Tyres
Uno Turbos came with 13" alloys as standard and there was an option to get 13" Abarth alloys from the factory. These came with 175/60 profile tyres.
There are two main aftermarket alloy sizes that fit on Unos:
14s with 185/50 tyres
15s with 195/45 tyres

There are a few alloy companies which make alloys to fit Unos, but not all do! Alessio, TSW, BK racing, OZ racing all do, and im sure there are more which im not aware of. There are some things to check when buying alloys make sure they are:
P.C.D (Pitch Circle Diameter) - 4x98
Offset - 35
Centre bore - 58.0

Punto GT/ Sporting/ Abarth alloys will also fit, these can be picked up for about 100 quid on sites like FindIt (see Uno Links page)
Lowering
Most peoples first thought when it comes to lowering is 'how low can I go'. Unos are pretty high as standard so it will go down something ridiculous like 100mm at the back and about 60mm at the front, and you'll still get 15"s on with 195/45 tyres. However it'l skip around everywhere at speed and the interior will rattle itself to pieces due to Fiat's legendary build quality (or lack of). But the car will look cool; it all depends what you're after. Here are some kits that I recommend:
For most Unos including the Uno turbo get AVO springs (part no: 25-002) which lower the car 35mm or AVO coilovers if you can afford them.
For the Uno 45 id recommend Apex springs if you didnt want the ride height altered too much. They make a kit specifically for this model (part no: 30-1000/45) lowering 35mm. I'd stay away from kits which say they fit all the models as in my experience these kits will look higher at the front on Uno 45s. If you want a lower Uno 45, Bebe exclusiv make a kit that lowers 50mm at the back and 60mm at the front (70mm on the Turbo), Jamex make a 60mm kit as do Gmax.

For shocks get Koni, Jamex or Avo ones. The cheaper ones will not last as long as these, and these are well worth the money. Its also best to change your shocks when you get lowered springs as the uprated shocks have a shorter stroke and, as well as improving the handling more, will not let your springs fall out at full extension.

Bodywork
Modifying the bodywork on Unos is really down to personal taste, but as I said on the home page, most Uno owners prefer to keep the boxy shape and try to complement it rather than stick on huge bumpers and spoilers.

A widely regarded good mod is to make a custom mesh grille. To do this you cut the middle bar and the badge out of the standard grille, fill in the gaps using bodyfiller, then mesh the back. Alternatively a website in South Africa (www.autostyle.co.za) makes new mesh front grilles, but I dont know anyone whos imported one, maybe you could be the first...

There are lots of other ways you can modify the bodywork, colour-coding the bumpers, flushing the tailgate, removing the rubstrips, etc, etc, its all down to what you like! Look at the pictures in the Photo Gallery for inspiration from other Unos.
